Why Is This So Confusing?

I have followed a ketogenic way of eating for over 7 years and what once seemed so simple has become very confusing.

When I began, I read: Eat high fat (75%), moderate protein (20%),  and low carb (5%). I followed this advice and began losing weight. That is until the confusion set in.

Too much fat on your plate will stall weight loss. So don't eat too much fat.

Plate fat and body fat don't burn the same, so don't worry about your plate fat.

Eat intuitively, as a woman your body might crave carbs and that's okay.

There is no essential carb.

Fasting is great!

Fasting longer than 18 hours for a woman isn't good.

Fasting isn't different for men and women at all.

Track macros

Don't track macros

Calories don't count

Calories do count, but macros count more

Dirty keto and net carbs are the way to go.

Clean keto and strict macros tracking ONLY total carbs is the only way to go.

Be sure you have a colorful plate of vegetables for micronutrients

Don't eat vegetables, they have oxalates, and many people are allergic

Don't eat vegetables, they are filled with chemicals, glysophate, and other pesticides. They are harmful to you; and our soil is depleted of minerals anyway.

You can get all the vitamins you need from meats as long as you eat organ meat.

You need to eat grass-fed, grass-finished, pasture-raised, organic everything. That's the only way to go.

Listen, if you can't afford all the fancy meat, Spam, hot dogs, and lunch meat will do just fine.

You need MCT oil and exogenous ketones to make it work.

You don't need all that fancy stuff. Keep it simple, baby.

If you eat right, you don't need to take vitamin supplements. They're useless anyway. They just make your pee expensive.

Our soil is depleted of essential vitamins. You should be taking good-quality supplements each day (here's my affiliate link). Studies show they have great benefits. Here's a link to my online store where you can find the BEST supplements on the market. I've worked with a lab to create my own super-blend!

Don't eat processed meat, you'll get cancer.

Processed meat doesn't cause cancer, there are no real studies to back that up.

Stevia is keto-approved.

Stevia is not really keto-approved because the sweet taste can *still * spike insulin.

Don't drink coffee.

Do drink coffee, it suppresses your appetite.

Fat in your coffee breaks a fast

Fat in your coffee doesn't break a fast.

I see why people have a lot of trouble keeping up. I know do.

I am sure all of these statements have some measure of truth. In fact, some may be completely true while the opposing statement maybe completely false.

The fact is, without doing hours of research and studying medical journals, who could know.

What's more, even if you do study medical journals, you may still not know because much of medicine is based on curing a disease, not preventing it.

Many doctors have openly stated they received little to no training in nutrition because medical school is pharmaceutically based, not nutritionally based. They are trained to write scripts, not advise on diet and nutrition.

Therefore, can medical journals even be trusted to give us the right nutrition advise?

Furthermore, we know the food and pharmaceutical industries are in bed with all of the big governmental health administrations, and they fund studies, so who is to be trusted anymore?

The more you know, the less you know -- and the more you listen to whistle-blowers the more skeptical you get of everyone, every article you read, every podcast you hear, and every video that pops up on your timeline.

At the end of the day, I have decided to just do what originally worked and forget all the noise.

The only real hard and fast diet rule that applies to the human race as a whole is that sugar is a poison that eventually leads to diabetes, fist-fulls of medication, and a slow death.

Other than that, diet has to be tailored to each individual body and its needs.
