We're so prone to celebrate only what's on the scale, that sometimes we forget to look at other measures - some of which are building blocks to keeping us at our goal once we reach it.
Yesterday I talked about the bag of chips my husband bought for our kids today.
Well, I dumped those chips into two bowls, and despite how (stupidly) hard it was to not sneak even one of those salty crisps....
I did it!
I managed to not eat even a crumb.
And that feels better than chips taste!
So, I'm going to start setting weekly non-scale goals for myself, because the more times we say no to impulsive cravings, the stronger we become.
I love how Kelly Hogan from My Zero Carb Life defines it: Lizard Brain.
Your lizard brain wants to take over your frontal cortex to keep you in this place of negative impulsivity.
We have to get past that.
By the way, if you don't follow My Zero Carb Life, you don't know what you're missing. Not only is she a sister in Christ, but she's fun to listen to and always comes with the facts.
So, over the next two days, I'll be thinking of a goal for this weekend. I'll be back on Thursday to share.
What is a goal you want to set for yourself for next week? Share in the comments and let's do this!
